Library Committee

Who are we?

John and Margaret Cooper
We returned from Trinidad in 2009. Theoretically of retirement age, we're still writing, lecturing, consulting and doing workshops on wildlife and zoology in East Africa.
Tony and Beryl Long
We returned from Spain in 2012 and are great book-lovers with sound computing skills. We are also the Meeting's Archivists.

What's going on in the Library?

You can download the most recent Library report (September 2013) by clicking here.
  • We are building on the re-organisation by Bob and Debbie Carr (now in France).
  • Tony and Beryl have converted the card index into a database. Currently we are all checking the database against actual book stock. We plan eventually to make the database available to other meetings.
  • John and Margaret Cooper, with the support of Beryl and Tony Long, regularly collect books for the King's Lynn Meeting under the Friends House, London Quaker Centre's sale or return scheme.
  • Approximately monthly we collect a small number of books when in London. Books chosen include the titles listed in the Centre's Monthly Selection plus others that we think will appeal. We display them after Meeting, handle sales and then return the unsold books on our next London visit. This saves postage costs and gives us an excuse to visit the Quaker Centre (strongly recommended to all). Since this is done in the name of the Meeting we give the Treasurer our accounts.
